Helping Someone Enroll

Your role is to help your family member, friend, or the person you care for evaluate their Care Improvement Plus plan options, choose the right plan to meet their needs and budget, and assist in the enrollment process. If you're helping someone make decisions about enrolling in a Care Improvement Plus Medicare Advantage plan, these tips can help.

Allow enough time.
In most cases, coverage for Care Improvement Plus plans starts on the first day of the month after we receive your completed enrollment application form. (For individuals who are new to Medicare and/or turning 65, they must enroll in Original Medicare before they can enroll for other coverage such as our Medicare Advantage plans. First things first
We offer several plan options with different eligibility requirements. Make sure the person you are helping qualifies for the Care Improvement Plus Plan being considered by checking the Who Can Enroll section.

Next, make sure the plan meets the person's needs and budget
  • Is there a monthly plan premium? If so, how much is it?
  • Does the plan have any deductibles that must be met before benefits are provided?
  • What are the copayments for certain services?
  • What is covered?
  • What isn't covered?

Discuss prescription drug needs.
All Care Improvement Plus plans provide Medicare-approved prescription drug coverage. So it's important to make sure that the medications taken are on the plan's formulary (list of covered drugs).
